Douglas S. Chan

Douglas S. Chan is an accomplished attorney with more than 40 years’ experience in international and domestic business law. He has held numerous public service positions throughout his career, including as a two-term commissioner with the San Francisco Civil Service Commission. Doug has served on various commissions and boards, including the California Small Business Board; San Francisco’s Human Rights and Police commissions; the city’s Permit Appeals, Tax Assessment Appeals, and Rent Stabilization & Arbitration boards; and the Mayor’s Chinatown Economic Development Group. Doug is also a founding trustee and incorporator of The Bay School of San Francisco, a past trustee of the Cathedral School for Boys, a former member of the Lowell High School Site Council, and a four-term president of the Chinese Historical Society of America.
Doug is a graduate of Stanford University and the University of California Davis School of Law.
Quentin L. Kopp
Attorney, Politician & Jurist
Hon. Quentin L. Kopp has been a long-time public servant. He was a California Superior Court Judge, a California State Senator, and a Supervisor of San Francisco City and County. He also served in the US Air Force, in the Office of Special Investigations and the Judge Advocate General Corps. He was Chairman of the Metropolitan Transportation Commission and a member of the San Francisco Ethics Commission. He has also been the long-time President of the San Francisco Taxpayer Association, championing for responsible government spending.
Judge Kopp received his BA from Dartmouth College and JD from Harvard Law School.
Bill Maher
Long Time San Francisco City Leader
Bill Maher is a long time San Francisco city leader who was twice-elected President of the SF Board of Education, a three-term SF Supervisor, the Executive Director of Parking and Traffic, a Commissioner of the Bay Development and Conservation District and Development Commission, a Golden Gate Bridge District director, and the Senior Advisor to the Airport Director of the San Francisco International Airport.
Perseverance, transformation and community service mark his life’s story. From a juvenile delinquent without a high school diploma or undergraduate credits, he helped build and finance several Delancey Street Foundation’s enterprises. After graduating from USF law school and gaining admission to the California State Bar, Bill was elected to the San Francisco school board. This began his more than a half-century’s strategic partnership with the Chinese community in voter registration and education, candidate development, and civic engagement.
John F. Rothmann
Renowned Radio Talk Show Host, Author, and Historian
John F. Rothmann is a fourth generation San Franciscan and President of the George Washington High School Alumni Association for the past 50 years. He is a renowned radio talk show host, lecturer, published author, historian and professor. A frequent lecturer on American politics and the presidency, John has been involved in education and a broad variety of political campaigns on the national, state and local levels.
John's personal library of 15,000 volumes is widely recognized as one of the finest libraries of American political history and biography in the United States and is accessed by scholars, graduate students and authors when conducting research. John has spoken on more than 150 college and university campuses throughout the United States and Canada and delivered the Baccalaureate address at the United States Air Force Academy at Colorado Springs.

Yulin Xu is a seasoned Silicon Valley technology innovator and entrepreneur, an education researcher, a Professor of Practice at International School of Chief Technology Officer (CTO), East China Normal University (ECNU), and a former Adjunct Faculty of Master of Global Entrepreneurship and Management (MGEM) at University of San Francisco's (USF) School of Management.
Yulin's research focus is AI education, a field that has great potential to benefit society. As a USF educated scholar, she believes in USF’s mission “to promote justice through education,” and believes that "education is the science and art of love."
Yulin has a BS in Computer Science from Sun Yat-sen University in China, MS Computer Science and EdD in Learning & Instruction from University of San Francisco.
Jian Zhang
CEO of Chinese Hospital (San Francisco)
Dr. Jian Zhang is an innovative healthcare executive with 20+ years of progressive experience in hospital & clinics, health plan and medical group management. She joined Chinese Hospital in 1993 after coming from China to study nursing at University of California San Francisco. Before she was named as CEO in 2017 to lead the 124-year-old community-owned Chinese Hospital, she was the Chief Operating Officer of the hospital which provides culturally and linguistically appropriate quality care to patients in the San Francisco Chinatown community. Under her steadfast leadership, Chinese Hospital helped the San Francisco Chinatown community avoid a COVID-19 outbreak.
Jian has a BS from Sun Yat-sen University in China, MS in Nursing from University of California San Francisco, and Doctorate in Nursing Practice, Healthcare System Executive Leadership from University of San Francisco.
